Burokan

   Burokan is a traditional art that very popular in cirebon. The emergence of burokan art, beginning about 1934 a Kalimaro villager named abah Kalil makes a new creation called burokan. he reputedly inspired by folklore who live among the Islamic community about the trip of Prophet Muhammad SAW from Masjidil Haram to Masjidil al-Aqsa with riding winged horse called Buroq. Performing of Burokan usually used in some celebration, such as Khataman, circumcision, marriage, Marhabaan etc. Usually done from the morning around the village of celebration. Where previously supplied complete offerings as the requirements at the beginning of the show. Then the group leader checks all equipment performances, reading prayers. The show began with Tetalu then move slowly to chant songs Asroqol (salawat of prophet and Barzanji). Burokan musical accompaniment usually consists of 3 pieces dogdog (large, medium, small),  4 genjring, 1 simbal, organ, guitar, guitar melody, kromong, flute, and kecrek. Those instruments is used to accompany dances and songs, the song presented by male and female singers, sometimes taking turns depending on the character of songs sung.
