Kuda Lumping

Kuda Lumping is a traditional art from Indonesia that very unique, and this is very interesting to discuss.

   Kuda Lumping also called Jaran Kepang or Jathilan that is derived from java, it's present a group of soldier riding a horse. This dance uses a horse made of bamboo or other material that woven and cut to shaped like a horse, the hair decorated with plastic imitation of a rope or something like it, and the hair coiled or braided. Until Javanese often called it Jaran Kepang. That said, Kuda Lumping dance is a dance trance. There is also a version that says, that Kuda Lumping dance depicts the story of a beautiful young troops that called Jathil   white horseman with goldeng haired, golden tail, and has a golden wings that help Bantarangin in battle, against the forces boar riders from royal lodaya in serial  legend of Reyog, 8th century.

   Regardless of the origin and historical value, Kuda Lumping dance reflects the spirit of heroism and military aspects. This is evident from the rhythmic movements, dynamic, and aggressive, from flick of through bamboo, mimicking the movement like a horse in the middle of a war. Often in Kuda Lumping dance performances, the show also featured attractions smelling magical supernatural powers, such as chewing glass attractions, wrenching the arm with a machete, burn away, walking on broken glass, and others. Often in Kuda Lumping dance performances, the show also featured attractions smelling magical supernatural powers, such as chewing glass attractions, wrenching the arm with a machete, burn away, walking on broken glass, and others. Perhaps, this attraction is a reflects of supernatural power in the environment of old empire java and a non-military aspects that used to against the Dutch. In addition to an element of entertainment and religion, traditional art Kuda Lumping is often also contains elements of ritual. Because before the show begins, usually a handler will perform a ritual rain, to maintain in order to the weather keep sunny considering the show is usually done in the open field.
